You Know About The History Of Information Technology
However, without some of the primitive ways those people used to convey information, we would not have the technologically advanced methods we have today like computers and cell phones. There are four basic time periods in the advancement of the ways to communicate and relay information: Pre-mechanical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic.
In the pre-mechanical time period, the Phoenicians created communication symbols. This was in 2000 BC. Before this time, humans first used drawings to get across their message to someone else. The Greeks took the idea of the Phoenicians symbols and added vowels to them. This made those symbols able, in a sense, to move. Later, Romans took this same collection of and created the alphabet we all use today.
The year 600 BC marks the making of real books, fashioned from papyrus and bound together. Religious heads and leaders were usually the ones that kept the first real libraries of these collections. Humanity can thank the Egyptians for creating the invention of a system of numbers. This is also the inventors of the counting abacus.
Into the mechanical age, man began to develop devices for storing and recording information. Johann Gutenburg of Germany invented the first ever movable printing press process. This was the doorway that opened into many others for relaying information. This was also around the time analog computing machines were being invented.
